Donald Gordon Beck, 70, a lifelong resident of Beverly, died May 20, 2005, at Salem Hospital.
He was born in Beverly, the son of the late James G. and Florence R. (Bell) Beck. A graduate of Beverly High School, Class of 1953, Mr. Beck had worked for Del-West and later Utility Metal Products, both in Beverly.
He was an avid bowler. He is survived by two sisters, Lorraine L. Daly of Peabody and Marcia B. Duest of Danvers; two brothers, James G. Beck Jr. of Pennsylvania and Wayne T. Beck of Vermont; and many nieces and nephews. His funeral service was held May 24 from the Campbell Funeral Home of Beverly. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In 1959 I met and married a stuudent at Harvard Medical school and we are still married today, having moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1963. We  have four children and four grandsons. My husband retired several years back and we've done some travelling since then.

3/03 - When I first signed on, last week, I had such staqe fright that I  managed to write a few terse words and that was it. I wanted to add lots of stuff and seeing that Freddie Hammond is still toioting HIS horn, figured   I could toot mine. Mainly, after being a nurse for some years while my husband got through school and set up practice, my heart was never truly in it and I finally started to write.  Over the years I wrote and published a number of literary poems, short stories and one novel. When my grandkids started coming I stopped everything else to be grandma. Now that they are getting older, I have started a new novel. I would love to hear from anyone, but especially any of the old Thespians. Do we have an obits sectcolumn?

In the Spring of 1954 joined the Navy to see the world. Served aboard the USS Albany (CA-123)and was able to see much of western Europe and the Med. I finished my service aboard the USS Constitution. Graduated Northeastern Univ. in 1963 and started my career as an agent with the IRS in 1965. Retired in 1998 and enjoying every day of it. I have four wonderful children and four grandchildren. Married for the second time and living in Haverhill.

4/08 - Went to B.U., was state house news service reporter in Boston for couple of years, editor of Ipswich and Hamilton-Wenham Chronicles for couple of years, several years as City Editor of Beverly Evening Times, four years as Press Relations Director at Northeastern University, lured to University of Hartford in Connecticut to create Department of Public Information and directed that for four years, served as Executive Director of Connecticut Bar Association for 14 years, as Executive Director of Massachusetts Bar Association for four years, and then as Executive Director of Connecticut State Dental Association for a couple of years before retiring from association management.  For the past eight years have been back in college administration, presently as Archivist for the President of Yale University.  First wife, Nanci, and I had two children and we have five grandchildren and two great-grandsons.  Married second time for 23 years,  raised two step-sons with wife, Diane, who is Executive Assistant to the Dean of the Yale Graduate School.  In her spare time, Diane is an ordained Episcopal Deacon. We recently bought a house in Meriden, CT, and are very happy and healthy. Both of my parents have passed away, Hope many others in our class have had as enjoyable and  fruitful life as I have had. By the way, my hobby is still doing magic shows for children.  (May 2008)

I was in the carpentry class of the trade school.  After school, I worked around Beverly for a while, then went in the Army.  I was in 21 years, mostly in Special Forces, retired in 78, taught high school for a few years, then was education specialist at the Marine Corps Engineer School.  I retired in 98 and live just outside Camp Lejeune, NC in a little town called Sneads Ferry.

I attended two reunions many years ago, the 10th and the 25th.  I'd like to get to the 50th if there is one. 

6/05 - Hi. Had a great time at the fiftieth reunion. Note my e-mail address has changed. I'm still sucking oxygen and limping around, but still going.

Annette (Varas) (Pierce) (Hanscom) Rose, 71, formerly of Beverly, died January 2, 2007, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late John Rose, with whom she had shared over 20 years of marriage until his death in 2001.  Born in Danvers, October 29, 1935, she was the daughter of the late John Varaskevitch and the late Lillian (Joncas) (Varaskevitch) Collins.  She was raised and educated in Beverly and was a graduate of Beverly High School, Class of 1953.  For many years, Mrs. Rose had owned and operated Annette s Hair Salon in Peabody Square.  She is survived by her children, Robert Hanscom of Florida, David Hanscom of Ohio, and Diane Pierce and her husband, Daniel Skinner, of Topsfield; two sisters, Doris O Grady of Potomac,Maryland and Carol Knowlton of Essex; three grandchildren, Brie, Blake and Derek Skinner; and a loving extended family.  She was also the mother of the late Lynn Hanscom.
Donations in Mrs. Rose s name may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 152 Conant St., Beverly, MA 01915.
